  • Which supplement should I take? #Supplement Explorer

Are you always on your phone looking at which supplements you should take? Do you look at reviews? How do you decide what to buy?

As someone who has been in the nutraceutical industry for over 10 years, I’ve worked with many suppliers and companies to understand why an ingredient is chosen, what research is behind it, and how to sell it to a consumer, so if you are looking for some answers to questions you may have, drop a comment, or even better check out the Supplement Explorer on the site. It is free to use, 3 questions, and a simple output. No info is stored.

I made the Supplement Explorer purely for my use and then thought, well, if it is useful for me, maybe it is useful for others. The tool is not affiliated with any company or brand, but was just a way for me to showcase what I find useful. If you use it, do give me feedback as to what you’d like to see it on too.

Stay well and remember, before taking any supplements, check with your doctor if it is a good fit for you or not!

  • Track it for success!

    Track it for success!

I’ve talked about the importance of tracking your diet in the past, but it’s just as important to track your workouts too. Typically, we all carry our phones so we could track our workout on them but there’s still another way.

I found this awesome fitness journal at Target. It lets you write down your workout, diet, and gratitudes daily. Plus, some fitness advice is given too.  I like this journal because you’re not tempted to check your phone every time there is a rest period plus you are also tracking your progress. Also, I love that there is a gratitude section because happiness and gratefulness are important to maintain a healthy life too.

You won’t know what to change unless you know where you started! Track it for success!

  • Biotin info

    Biotin info

I’ve talked about biotin before in terms of how good it can be for your hair, skin, and nails but how about where can you get them and how can you tell if you’re deficient?

Eggs are a great source of biotin, specifically the yolk.  Not a fan of eggs? Try nuts, fruits, and veggies. My favorite being peanuts but of course eat items that you’re not allergic too. Would you rather take a supplement? There are tons out there and best to ask your doctor which one might be best for you.

Finally, a quick way to tell if you’re biotin deficient is not only if your hair is falling out or your nails are breaking too easily but also if you have red, scaly, or oily skin or you are depressed and tired. Not all of these might occur in you so if you’re not sure if you’re biotin deficient, check with your doctor!

  • #DYK: Vitamin B5 info

    #DYK: Vitamin B5 info

Vitamin B5 is another great vitamin that sometimes we take for granted unlike vitamin C and D but did you know:

-Vitamin B5 is also known as pantothenic acid

-Perhaps you’re deficient in it if you are fatigued or tired

-Got a bad mood? Not enough sleep, stomach problems or cramps? Maybe you’re deficient in B5

    –  Bad acne? high cholesterol? take time to heal after a wound? Maybe B5 can help

Ask your doctor if B5 can help!

I prefer Super B complexes because all the B vitamins are there but ask your doctor if that’s best for you.

    Happy 4th of July!

On this day of freedom, enjoy your holiday with your loved ones! Eat well and be merry!

  • Move over Halo Top, Aldi’s has a fantastic competitior!

Move over Halo Top, Aldi’s has a fantastic competitior!

If you like shopping for Halo Top ice cream or like shopping at Aldi’s, check out Sundae Shoppe’s protein ice cream. I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to tell the difference between the two brands.

Sundae Shoppe comes in many flavors but I tried the peanut butter one which was so good. Plus, like Halo Top, a pint has protein, 21g in this one. If you’re looking to save money and don’t care about name brands, like to shop at Aldi’s, and like ice cream, then give Sundae Shoppe a try. You won’t be disappointed! If you’re hesitant to try the pint, it also comes in limited single serve options.

  • A rose for you

    A rose for you

Summer is underway and sometimes as I walk the dog, I catch glimpses of nature. Roses are not only good to attract pollinators but they also provide immense beauty. Of course, because they are beautiful, rose water was developed and is marketed for skin health so the next time you are drinking rose water, remember it all started with a rose, in it’s natural state.

  • Can you get too much Vitamin A?

Can you get too much Vitamin A?

No matter how you get your vitamin A– carrots, food, supplements, meat, milk, etc.–there is a possibility that you can get too much and it can be toxic so if you’re taking too much or high dose vitamin A, do consult with your doctor.

Some side effects could include hair loss, fatigue, cracked lips, headaches, stomach issues, and more. Of course, these are also a result of lacking some other vitamins too so best to speak with your doctor to confirm what could be causing these side effects.

Strive to eat a balanced diet and check in with your doctor so that your health is optimal.

  • Do you visit your local tourist spots?

Do you visit your local tourist spots?

Often times we overlook what’s in our town and take it for granted until we have visitors. Don’t look too far for your vacation–this is exactly why staycations are still rising.

I recently found a beautiful waterfall locally. It was a great reason to go explore something new without going too far and still get some relaxation and exercise in. You don’t have to spend a lot to enjoy some down time! Look in your city and support your local city and parks.

  • Bark thins- chocolate snacking

    Bark thins- chocolate snacking

If you like to snack and are looking for a chocolate snack that is a nice indulgence, check out Bark Thins!

Bark Thins have a lot of options for snacking like pretzels, toasted coconut, and much more but these are definitely loaded with sugar and calories so treat them like treats! Also, they are non GMO project verified so that’s a plus too!

Enjoy your chocolate snack in moderation!

  • Alternative way to get your greens!

Alternative way to get your greens!

I think green powders are a great way to get your vitamins and minerals in when you don’t eat enough fruits, veggies, or meats to get them but some complaints that I hear from people include that green powders taste like grass so here’s one other option you can try, effervescent tablets.

Amazing grass, ironic name right but a fantastic name with good products, has released various green tablets for your various needs like beauty. Not only do they contain the vitamins you need but also whole food ingredients. Not to mention that the effervescent tablets go into water quickly and the drink tastes good too.

Don’t give up finding the right green powder for you, there may be an option out there that you like!
