  • Which supplement should I take? #Supplement Explorer

Are you always on your phone looking at which supplements you should take? Do you look at reviews? How do you decide what to buy?

As someone who has been in the nutraceutical industry for over 10 years, I’ve worked with many suppliers and companies to understand why an ingredient is chosen, what research is behind it, and how to sell it to a consumer, so if you are looking for some answers to questions you may have, drop a comment, or even better check out the Supplement Explorer on the site. It is free to use, 3 questions, and a simple output. No info is stored.

I made the Supplement Explorer purely for my use and then thought, well, if it is useful for me, maybe it is useful for others. The tool is not affiliated with any company or brand, but was just a way for me to showcase what I find useful. If you use it, do give me feedback as to what you’d like to see it on too.

Stay well and remember, before taking any supplements, check with your doctor if it is a good fit for you or not!

  • Book: Broke Millennial

    Book: Broke Millennial

This week, I’m going to share the five books that I really enjoyed reading this year and I hope you had some time to check them out. What are they about? Read on to find out.

With the ongoing pandemic and downturn in the economy, reading a book like Broke Millennial by Erin Lowry was insightful. Why? Whether you are a millennial or not, it is important to budget. You don’t want to be caught on a rainy day without emergency funds. Does this book give you good tips? Yes!

My takeaways from the book include understanding how your finances are affected based on where you live. Do you adequately portion the right amount towards each expense, knowing that you’ll have to forgo somethings to have savings? I also liked the fact that you can either pay with everything by cash or note everything down in a spreadsheet as you spend. Both ways are good ways to monitor your expenditure. Lots of other good tips in the book so if you are looking to improve your financial health, do read it!

    Stay well!

  • Food temptations!

    Food temptations!

With Christmas a little less than three weeks away, weight gain is likely possible but can it be prevented? I don’t know about you but food temptations are everywhere. From co-workers bringing you homemade treats to office parties to holiday parties (though most likely these are hush hush at the moment due to the pandemic), this is the season to lose control of what you eat. Indulging in social activities is great but watching your waistline expand, not so much!

Somethings that I recommend is sticking with your routine as it is easy to lose sight of your routine with so much activity. Get up at the same time, workout, eat healthy, and indulge as needed. If you guilt yourself by saying I cheated on this meal so I can cheat on my next meal, then most likely your body will reward you with an expanding waistline so make smart decisions and not impulse decisions—the path to healthy living is in your hands (mouth?).

  • Smoothie your way to the holidays

Smoothie your way to the holidays

With all the resolutions starting in January and then reverting back to normal in February, why not get a head start now! I started my clean eating again via smoothies. So easy to make and satisfying too.

My current favorite smoothie recipe is:

    1.5c almond milk

    1c blueberries

    1c mango

    1scoop protein powder

    1tbsp peanut butter

    1c spinach

    Blend!

So yummy and filling. I choose to have the smoothie for breakfast so the start is great.

If you don’t want to go grocery shopping to get these fruits and veggies, check out Daily Harvest as they have smoothie options that just require blending and your favorite beverage.

    Stay well!

  • Track your nutrients

    Track your nutrients

One thing that I like to do is use My Fitness Pal to track what I eat but you know what is even better, seeing if my body actually retains those nutrients. But is there a test to do that? Yup, there is.

I recently purchased an at-home test by Vessel Health. Similar to a pregnancy test, you pee on the pad and scan it with your phone after a timer is set—via the app. The results are incredible as it shows me instantly (without shipping out to anyone anything) which nutrients or vitamins I’m deficient in. Plus, I really like that it shows me if I’m in ketosis too along with my pH and hydration level. Vessel Health employs a subscription service so if you would like to keep following up on how your nutrients are changing, this might appeal to you. Also, if you are deficient in a nutrient, they can personalize a supplement for you and allow you to buy it. Lots of options! I think this where personalization is heading and can’t wait to see what else they come up with.

I can’t wait to check any changes that occur with my next test!

    Stay well!
