  • Which supplement should I take? #Supplement Explorer

Are you always on your phone looking at which supplements you should take? Do you look at reviews? How do you decide what to buy?

As someone who has been in the nutraceutical industry for over 10 years, I’ve worked with many suppliers and companies to understand why an ingredient is chosen, what research is behind it, and how to sell it to a consumer, so if you are looking for some answers to questions you may have, drop a comment, or even better check out the Supplement Explorer on the site. It is free to use, 3 questions, and a simple output. No info is stored.

I made the Supplement Explorer purely for my use and then thought, well, if it is useful for me, maybe it is useful for others. The tool is not affiliated with any company or brand, but was just a way for me to showcase what I find useful. If you use it, do give me feedback as to what you’d like to see it on too.

Stay well and remember, before taking any supplements, check with your doctor if it is a good fit for you or not!

  • Gratitude Day 1

    Gratitude Day 1

As the year wraps up, this is a good week to think about what you are grateful for. There can be many life changing events, things, or just simple things that make you happy but with 2020 being such a tough year, do take some time to think about what you are grateful for this year.

My first two things I’m grateful for are health and family. With the pandemic raging this year, I’m happy and lucky that I have my health and that my family does too. Those that had covid-19 had light symptoms whereas many others in the world were not so lucky. Prayers for their families. No matter how much I write about food, supplements, and health, a pandemic can still take you by surprise so all we can do is stay active, eat right, and take care of ourselves and others!

  • Book: The Latte Factor

    Book: The Latte Factor

To conclude this week’s books that I read, let’s talk about The Latte Factor. Remember, this blog is more than just fitness and nutrition topics as I wanted it to truly be about full mind fitness which means that a book might lead the way to expand ideas and thinking.

The Latte Factor by David Bach was one recently that I read and it was enlightening because it shows you that for the price of a coffee, you can not only pay yourself, but also automate that payment, and open your dream account to do something that you always wanted to. Intrigued? I too was wondering how just the price of a coffee could lead to you getting and achieving what you want. The writing was easy to understand and the teachings are great. Pick up a copy on Amazon or your favorite book store. A good read especially when we all think every day about how can I have a good-paying job but never seem to have money to do the fun things that I want to do?

  • Book: How will you measure your life?

Book: How will you measure your life?

As the year ends, we all tend to do some type of reflecting, so this book was one that I read earlier and it definitely resonates with me, how about you?

A fantastic book that I finished reading is How will you measure your life? By Clayton Christensen et al. The book is relevant in these tumultuous times as people are constantly looking to make a difference be in their careers or personally. I think some of the best aspects of the book include where should you devote your time and that is shown through many examples from parenting to companies that pivot from a strategy. How does it apply to you? What do you hope to gain from it?

For me, the best message from the book was though promotions and raises are what we seek, those gains provide instant gratification but only for the short-term while investing in friends/families and relationships though long and cumbersome to develop, provide long-term and life-altering impact. Choose wisely where you invest your time. Why? Because what do you want to be remembered by?

Invest your self and your relationships as those will likely enrich your life more than anything else!

  • Book: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People

Book: The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People

Another book that I think you’ll enjoy is The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Its teachings can be applied both in your professional and personal lives. So what’s it about?

Some basic teachings from the book include being proactive, thinking win-win, and understand first before being understood. These three are the ones that I found directly executable by me but the other four are just as important. What are they? Check out the book. It can be bought on Amazon or on my link below too!

  • Book: Deep Work

    Book: Deep Work

Do you like to take action from a book that you read?

A new book that I recommend to read is Deep Work by Cal Newport. What makes it good is that there are many actionable items from it. As we know multitasking is not efficient and this book mentions that and why it is so; so those of us who are constantly multitasking and failing to accomplish a task, know that there might be some truth to this. Other good points covered include how connected are you to the world? Is that distracting you from accomplishing your goals? Are you always attached to your device? We all are but is it too much that is the question. Finally, various tools are provided on how to concentrate at your work, should you block time a day, limit email checks, seclude yourself, etc. are all valuable ideas that one can implement. If you like to read and want to concentrate and focus at your work and on your work, this might be a good book for you to check out.

    Stay well!
