If you are fortunate enough to have a Chick-fil-A (CFA) near you, you sure are lucky. Not only has CFA always ranked consistently as one of the best fast food places to eat but it truly is an experience to be had once you walk in the door with their awesome customer service combined with great food! Yes, it is one of my favorite places to eat and when I want to eat healthily, it is a place that I frequently go to.
What all can I eat there? Well, of course, it will include chicken but I’m not limited to just grilled! You can actually have a healthy meal for under 500 calories by ordering the spicy chicken sandwich meal without the bun, skip the fries and substitute with fruit, and an unsweetened tea or coffee to go with it. Easy!
When I am on the keto diet, my go to is always the grilled nuggets and unsweetened tea with 3 fries (yes, that takes self-control) but it can be done. Eating this way, I get to enjoy eating at my favorite place and not break my diet.
A lot of folks just stick with the sandwiches when they eat at CFA but do give their salads a shot. They are so large and filling and come with chicken and dressing. Choose the dressing wisely and you will be happy with the reduction in calories–my personal fave is the spicy southwest chicken salad with avocado lime dressing.
CFA also serves breakfast but to make it healthy is a bit tougher because everything comes with a biscuit so opt for the hash brown scramble egg bowl as it has hash browns, eggs, and breaded chicken. Want to make the bowl healthier, drop the hash browns and add cheese and you won’t feel like you lost a lot of quantity in the bowl.
If you don’t have a CFA near you, I highly recommend you visit one as no matter what the company’s politics are and how you feel about them, you are going there to eat and enjoy the food and customer service.
