Overcoming Jet Lag

Traveling always takes a toll especially if you’re changing times zones. I’m suffering through jet lag as we speak and boy does it catch up with you when you least expect it. Are there any tips to overcome it?

I think what’s working for me is that taking catnaps during the day. For me, the jet lag is a matter of 12 hours so literally a night and day difference. Change of food and water on top of it sure is causing a struggle but these little naps are definitely helping me. I took two or three hour naps just to refresh and push thru until the evening which is helping. I’m also sticking with just water which is also helping without the jolt of caffeine. The other thing that is keeping me awake is just walking. Exercise in its simplest form is the best!

Jet lag can definitely play havoc with not just your sleep but also your mental health. To keep your mind active during this time when you’d just sleep, play a game on your phone or listen to a podcast, both will get you thinking. I find this helps especially when I’m not around people and would much rather sleep–this one is truly challenging to do for sure.

What are some tips that you use to overcome jet lag?

Stay well!
