What do you do when your plane or train is delayed and food restaurants are about to close? Do you grab food from the most convenient place or do you hunt for something healthy?
In this day and age of grab and go, of course, you’re going to look for the most convenient item but remember that packaged food is usually not healthy but there can be exceptions. So on my delayed layover, I grabbed from A Pret a turkey avocado wrap for two reasons. It was freshly made and had the right macros for me in terms of protein, carbs, and fats. The icing on the cake is that A Pret donates all freshly made food of the day if not sold. How awesome is that?
Choosing McDonald’s for a freshly made meal would have been easy but just because it is made in front of you, doesn’t make it healthy!
When you have a time crunch and you have to rush to get food, always look for items that are freshly made, hopefully that day, because they most likely won’t have preservatives to make it last longer. Fresh food means items that will rot, turn color, or sour for example. Remember, eating properly during your journey can impact how you feel during the trip so choose wisely!
