Dinner time has evolved!

With many people starting new diets as the year begins, one thing that is very noticeable is that dinner time is clearly not what it used to be. From the plethora of meal kits to food delivery services, families are likely not even eating the same meals together.

In the past, some family members were vegetarians while others were non-vegetarians but that was the extent of divisiveness but today things are different. Some might be vegan others might prefer eating keto or Atkins meals or others simply want to order food and eat without thinking about how to cook it so what is happening at the dinner table? All of this is translating into customized meals for each person.

As kids, we eat what our parents/guardians give us but as we get older, we make our own decisions on what works for us so that means trying out new diets or meal plans but that doesn’t necessarily translate to a better family dinner time. Yes, you may be eating what you want but that relationship fostering that is happening when we sit together to eat is slowly disappearing. Most of us are too engrossed with our gadgets and goals to realize that sometimes we should live in the moment with those around us. Your goal is always going to be there, be it a diet one or a fitness one, but don’t forget to enjoy the present too (maybe with a little tweak if needed!).

The takeaway is that live in the moment and enjoy your family time as this too will help you stay healthy!
