An interesting article that I read this week was about how companies are not giving up on selling you some of those unhealthy items like cookies and candy because they know people still crave those items, no matter the diet you follow. So how are they marketing to you now?
The recent ad campaigns will focus on telling you to chew slower and enjoy every morsel so that it is a treasured treat. Ok, I get it, yes that will make you savor the flavor and taste longer but I’m sure it is not doing anything to help you lose weight by eating a cookie slower. Growing up, we are told that you should chew thoroughly and not rush to eat your food but don’t you think this marketing idea is just asking too much? I mean, if you are going to cheat on your diet with a cookie or candy, you definitely will savor it no matter whether it is eaten in 2 mins or 10 mins, don’t you agree?
Do you think this marketing trend will stick? For companies, it will be good because you don’t have to change your packaging, just the advertising. For consumers, is this something you will buy into? I’m not so sure.
