Have you noted that the gym culture necessitates you to have a protein shake after your workout? Why is this? Who came up with this idea? Yes, we know protein is good for building muscle and we know that the best time to build muscle is during recovery or sleep but where did this need to have a protein shake after working out come from?
Even I’m guilty of guzzling a protein shake after working out because that’s the fastest way to get protein into your body after working out but is this the only way? Nope! I would definitely prefer eating my protein but you know what, unless I’ve meal prepped, I’ll likely struggle to eat something healthy and full of protein so I turn to my shake. I’m guessing like many others, I too look at the protein powder as a convenience method because no matter whether you are vegetarian, vegan, or nonvegetarian, eating 20g of protein is tough!
So next time, don’t feel compelled to drink a protein shake just meal prep and you’ll be able to eat a healthy protein-packed meal instead!
