With a growing number of us working from home, one thing that is increasing is our exposure to blue light due to our increased screen time via phones, computers, TVs, and tablets. Even kids who are being schooled from home are now facing the same issue so what can you do about it? Before the pandemic had started, phones had started having digital well-being features but those are likely sky high right now and regardless, work still has to get done.
One area that will see an increase in demand is supplements for eye health because let’s face it no one eats enough carrots and other rainbow-colored veggies daily to reap their benefits. Some supplements that you will see take off include lutein, zeaxanthin, astaxanthin, and beta carotene. All of these are beneficial for your eyes due to their antioxidant properties. If you aren’t sure which to take, ask your doctor! Of course, if you don’t want another supplement to take, you could always try blue light glasses but my only advice right now for you is that to minimize your screen time (don’t look at your phone/tablet, etc 30 mins before sleeping) as you don’t want your eyes to suffer as you get older.
Stay well!
