Eating local is good right?

Eating local is so important to support your local community and small business but does it really make a difference in terms of carbon footprint?

Depending on who you talk to, the answer can be yes or no. If you think transportation and retail packaging are going to be driven down you are impacting the environment in a positive way, then yes. However, what if the impact was more from what you ate rather than where it came from. Think about this, a plant-based diet (fruits and veggies) is better for the environment than an animal-based one because you aren’t killing animals for food and thus no dictating the need to mass production of animals like chicken and turkey. The answer isn’t as simple as shopping local when impacting the carbon footprint but your viewpoint as to how to impact it can also drive your purchase decisions.

Eating local is good right? All depends on what you believe is the right way to impact the environment.
