Does that side ruin your healthy food?

Eating healthy while traveling or doing work lunches or dinner is extremely difficult for several reason. You can’t count your macros or take your food with you to these events so what do you do? You opt for the healthiest option on the menu and hope it delivers. One thing that I thing gets most people is the sides they choose with that healthy meal. Do you load up with fries as your entree is healthy or do you stick with veggies as the side? Tough decision, right?

My personal way of looking at this scenario is if the entree is huge and super healthy, I’ll eat that with a side of french fries or a slice of bread but nothing too excessive. You don’t want to blow your whole diet over that side so I typically choose something that makes me happy to eat it and is not excessive in size either. Is that the right decision for you? Perhaps or maybe not but you have to decide based on how strictly you have adhered to your diet. There is no one size fits all.

Choosing a side with your healthy food shouldn’t have to derail your diet if you have smart goals in mind and how to achieve them. Eat healthy and be well.
