By limiting my eating out this month, I hope to be able to measure portions a bit better. Unlike Europe, American portions are HUGE so by eating at home, I can control how much I eat and also track it better. Using MyFitnessPal, I’m hoping to better track my progress this month. This is super important to stay on task!
In the US, we tend to get too much food no matter whether we buy groceries or eat out so that leads to food waste but I digress. Anyway, if you don’t have the time to weigh out food, I recommend using your palm. I use that as a gauge of how many carbs to eat and then weigh half palm protein and fat. Is this scientific? Nope, but it does work for portion control.
Does this help me? Indeed! Especially if I have to do work lunches or dinners—though limited now due to the pandemic. Plus, you’re never without your palm so you can always adjust what you’re eating. We all want simple ways to stay on task and what could be better than utilizing the tool—your palm—that you already possess.
