Charcoal is everywhere!

Have you recently been to your local Walmart or shopped on Amazon for toothpaste? You might have seen activated charcoal toothpaste. Yes, like charcoal, the toothpaste is black but why is it all of sudden everywhere—from toothpastes, to facial masks to supplement pills to nutritional shots?

Interesting anecdote, growing up and going to India several times, I used to see family use charcoal powder to brush their teeth and would always think why would someone use black powder to brush their teeth and today, it is being emulated in the rest of the world, go figure!

So why is activated charcoal showing up everywhere?

Activated charcoal is commonly used to eliminate unwanted wastes from your body as drugs and toxins can bind to it. Other uses for it include whitening your teeth as it adsorbs plaque and other microscopic food items that are on your teeth. You use it just like you would brush your teeth, you can buy the powder or the paste. It can be found in clay masks for the same purifying properties that it provides your teeth. If you’re not a fan of masks and toothpaste, check out the supplement but of course know it’s not a cure all for indigestion and is not an easy way to do a cleanse but done correctly, you could reap benefits from it.
