Define GMO

This week, I’m going to define terms that are confusing on the packaging. What type of terms? Those that are likely causing confusion to you as you look at them. Maybe you glance at it and think, “oh, I know what that means!” or perhaps you think it doesn’t really influence your purchase decision because it is on sale. Whatever the reason for purchase, it never hurts to understand what a term means.

Let’s start with GMOs. GMO stands for a genetically modified organism. As the name suggests, something was done in the lab to make that item. Is that good or bad? That’s up to you to decide but if that is a concern, you can always look for the Non-GMO Project Verified symbol on your item to confirm it is GMO or non-GMO.
